Car won't start — clicking noise in Ann Arbor, MI

Try a jump start first
If you have cables or a jump pack and a safe spot, a jump start takes about 5 minutes.
⚠️ Safety first
Never let the red and black clamps touch each other while connected. If you smell rotten eggs, see corrosion bubbling, or the battery casing is cracked or swollen, stop and request service instead.
- 1Park the rescue car nose-to-nose with yours (engine off) or ready your jump pack.
- 2Connect RED clamp to the dead battery's + (positive) terminal.
- 3Connect the other RED clamp to the good battery's + terminal (or the jump pack's + lead).
- 4Connect BLACK clamp to the good battery's − (negative) terminal.
- 5Connect the last BLACK clamp to a bare metal bolt or bracket on your engine block — NOT the dead battery's − terminal.
- 6Start the rescue car (or switch on the jump pack) and let it run for 2–3 minutes.
- 7Start your car. If it cranks and runs, remove the clamps in the exact reverse order.
- 8Drive or idle for at least 20 minutes to recharge the battery.
