Change the tire yourself
On firm, level ground a tire change takes 15–20 minutes.
⚠️ Safety first
Never get under a car held up only by a jack. If you're on a highway shoulder or the ground is soft or sloped, don't attempt it — request a tire change instead.
- 1Pull onto firm, level ground away from traffic and switch on hazard lights.
- 2Apply the parking brake and place a wheel chock (or a rock) on the opposite tire.
- 3Loosen the lug nuts a quarter turn BEFORE lifting the car — don't remove them yet.
- 4Position the jack under the reinforced jack point nearest the flat and raise until the tire is just off the ground.
- 5Remove the lug nuts and pull off the flat.
- 6Mount the spare, hand-tighten the lug nuts, then lower the car.
- 7Tighten the lug nuts fully in a star/criss-cross pattern.
- 8If it's a donut spare, keep under 50 mph and get a full tire fitted soon.
Get a tire change on site
A TowGo pro will swap your flat for your spare wherever you are.
- 1Pull as far off the road as you safely can and turn on hazard lights.
- 2Make sure your spare and tools are accessible (or let the driver know where they are).
- 3Request a tire change and stay in a safe spot until the driver arrives.
No spare — get a tow
Without a spare, the safe move is a tow to a tire shop where they can fit a new tire.
⚠️ Safety first
Driving on a flat ruins the rim and can cause a loss of control. Stop and request a tow.
- 1Don't drive on a fully flat tire — it can destroy the wheel and is dangerous.
- 2Pull off the road, switch on hazards, and request a tow.
- 3We'll take you to the nearest tire shop or your preferred destination.
