SMS Messaging Terms
Last updated: 2026-08-18
These Messaging Terms describe the TowGo Account & Service Alerts text-messaging program operated by TowGo ("we," "us"). They supplement our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
1. Program description
TowGo sends account and service text messages (SMS) related to your use of the TowGo platform. Message types include:
- Verification codes — one-time passcodes for login, phone verification, and SMS-based two-factor authentication (2FA). Sent only when you initiate them.
- Job confirmations and driver updates — confirmations, driver assignment and arrival updates, and status changes for service you requested.
- Safety and account alerts — urgent notices such as dispute filings or security-related events on your account.
- Invitations — for example, a driver invite when a towing company adds you to its fleet.
TowGo's service messages are transactional. We do not send marketing or promotional SMS unless you separately and expressly opt in to a marketing program.
2. How we obtain consent
Consent is collected at the point of phone-number collection:
- At signup — when you create a TowGo account (on the web app or mobile app) and provide your phone number, a disclosure next to the phone field states that by providing your number you agree to receive account and service text messages from TowGo, with STOP/HELP instructions.
- In Account Settings — when you add or change the phone number on your account, or enable SMS two-factor authentication.
Providing a phone number is optional. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchasing any good or service.
3. Message frequency
Message frequency varies based on your account activity (for example, one or more messages per service request, and codes whenever you initiate a login that requires one).
4. Cost
Message and data rates may apply according to your mobile carrier's plan. TowGo does not charge for text messages.
5. Opting out
- Reply STOP to any TowGo message to opt out of the program at the carrier level.
- You can also turn off non-essential text messages in the app under Account → Email & promotions (communication preferences).
- After you opt out, service updates are delivered in the app instead. SMS-based verification will be unavailable while you are opted out at the carrier level — you can use an authenticator app for 2FA instead.
6. Getting help
Reply HELP to any TowGo message, or contact us at [email protected].
7. Your privacy
Your phone number and SMS consent status are used only to deliver the messages described above. We do not sell your phone number, and your consent is never shared with or transferred to third parties for their marketing. Sharing is limited to our SMS delivery provider (Twilio) and the carrier network, solely to deliver these messages. See our Privacy Policy for details.
8. Carriers
Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
9. Changes
We may update these Messaging Terms from time to time; the "Last updated" date above reflects the current version. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email.
